JNU Campus: Hostel Life Is Amazing
Sabarmati Dhaba, JNU Campus |
Hostel life is amazing - there is a great deal of intellectual vibrancy, especially in the social sciences department. You meet people from different walks of life - serious academics, the UPSC crazy, the confused :P Class life, especially during MA can actually be quite rigorous as you are expected to read a lot. The professors are very helpful but need to be convinced that you are actually interested.
Other than this, it's the magic of the campus itself - which is stunning - you can take walks all through the year - such a huge campus, go to the various dhabas there with a very cheap price, try the awesome food and have discussions with your buddies about so many everyday events, discuss politics, class topics etc.
It's fun to roam around at 2 am on the campus, even play volleyball in some places. The campus is covered by green forests and hence we often get to see a lot of deers and peacocks in certain parts of the campus. Parthasarthi Rocks (PSR), a romantic site, is another place that rocks. Hauz Khas Village is an awesome retreat many go to - so is Priya Cinema for the occasional sasta movie. Ambience Mall is located in walking distance where luxurious shopping is a weekend joy. It's a different life altogether - exam pressure isn't much but the syllabus is quite endless actually.

Regular debates and discussions instil confidence among students, develop communication and leadership skills and help them to make informed decisions. In addition, JNU also provides different platforms such as NSS, NCC, and Cultural & Sports Clubs that helps students to enhance their leadership skills.

Overall, it provides an excellent experience and a lot of space to introspect, increase your knowledge and also a politically involved place with strong opinions which are discussed but respected too.
